Sorry for my sentence above, I haven't read well your question.

I do not use ekiga often, but it's the first time this assertion appears 
to me.

Also, when looking at 
http://opalvoip.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opalvoip/ptlib/trunk/src/ptlib/unix/tlibthrd.cxx?view=log, 
it seems the involved code was not touched since long ago...
