Introduction: I am an IT professional who worked for a number of years
with a Linux desktop, was forced back to Windows :>( but am now
jumping back to Linux. I participate in a number of user groups and have put
fealers out concering this topic with my local resouces to no avail so I am
turning to this community. System: IBM THinkpad T41 Fedora Core 6 KDE Desktop [root wizej LinuxDownloads]# uname -a Linux wizej 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6 #1 SMP Mon Mar 19 10:42:48 EDT
2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux [root wizej LinuxDownloads]# rpm -qa |grep ekiga ekiga-2.0.5-3.fc6 Issue: Can not connect to my corporate IP Avaya based phone system
with ekiaga Tried: I have contacted my Local IT support guys and they tell me
it uses H323 I have the phone correctly working (when I boot up my
windows drive) and also it connects when I run the IPSoftphone program within a
Windows VM (audio is flaky when trying to run in VMWare) No firewall on my system (iptables –F used) I have the ip address of the Gateway is set to 172.27.18.83
(172.27.19.84 is a second CLAN card option) I set host name in /etc/hosts to reflect same name in case
it was looking for some kind of host name resolution Attempted to also raise the debug level from a shell “ekiga
-4” -> not a SINGLE message was printed… hmm.. not
very “useful” Settings: Accountname=”Work IPphone” Gatekeeper=”172.27.19.84”
user=”6006” password=” my_password” GatekeeperID=”
“ Registration timeout=”3600” Protocol H323 As usual, thanks to those in the Linux community willing to
help. Penguinpages |
