Re: [Ekiga-list] ATA's or SIP Phones

Hi George
I would appreciate any and all of every ones experience of which ATA's or sip phones that are compatible with Linux, cable modems, and are fully programmable, and will also work as traditional landlines., so that I can use ekiga.net for sip, and other services for pc>pstn, and be able to use it as a POTS.
They're all compatible - it has nothing to do with Linux or cable modems. We got a Linksys ATA (would have to open the raised floor to find out which one) which is connected to an Asterisk server on Linux which also serves two Ekigas, a Fritz Box (well Germany) and a Linphone.

What's important is which audio codecs are available. I don't know of any such piece of hardware which doesn't support G711 or GSM. There are some SIP services which require the patented G729 which is nuts but not your problem. Ekiga.net should be friendly to open source endpoints:-)
The Linksys SPA3102 looks promising but I can't find enough information to make sure it actually does all these things and I have gotten no replies from the distributors
It shouldn't make any trouble. It features G.711 (64kbit/s) , G726 (which Ekiga has too) - no GSM - well give it a try. (if you can manage with your dealer to bring it back)

Conrad
