Hi,

Starting from tomorrow, ekiga debian snapshots 
(http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Snapshots) can be installed along with 
ekiga package, which means that gnome-desktop-environment needs not to 
be uninstalled.

For the moment, snapshots are compiled without dbus support (building 
errors still to be fixed) and without the new gstreamer support 
(dependencies found on debian/experimental for the moment).  However I 
hope to activate them soon.

Also, note that the gconf settings name is not ekiga anymore, but 
ekiga-snapshot.  This means it does not interfere with ekiga, and that 
the gconf settings for ekiga-snapshot can be empty for you the first time...
