The situation is even more critical now as I can see that the Empathy IM 'connected' status icon is almost identical to Ekiga's. Just a larger green circle. Screen shot attached if it isn't striped. Also attached is a quick mockup of my first thoughts for a more unique 'ready/connected' icon Duncan
