AFAIK, under linux you need to add a key in gconf and under windows a
key in the registry.
Thus probably the scenario may be somthing like that:
1- at startup, test if the key for SIP handling exist
2- if it doesn't, ask the user to handle sip link and to be the default
software for it -> die
2b- if it does, is it registered for ekiga?
3- yes it is registered for ekiga -> die
3b- no, it is registered by another software
4- if it is the first time we lunch ekiga (fresh install), ask to be the
default software handling sip URI and tell the user software X is
currently handling it. -> die
4b- it is not the first time ekiga is lunched, then does the option in
pref is checked to be the default?
5- option is checked: notify the user software "x" try to grad the sip
URI and propose to regrab it, or not -> die
5b- option is not checked -> die
