This is probably worthy of some explanation. There will probably be a final release for the 2.2 series, to collect a few bug fixes and translations that have accumulated since the 2.2.6 release. Future stable releases will be from the 2.4 series, until such time as there is a 2.6 release.
If there are any lingering 2.2 bugs that can be fixed without changing the UI or adding translatable strings, please report them soon.
This 2.4.0 release has been a long time coming, and has been delayed quite a bit. Although the UI has remained mostly the same, there has been lots of work to modernise the codebase, and it will be much easier to make changes in the future. Please test the latest version, and report any bugs that you find, so that 2.4.1 and beyond will be even better.
