Drivel and usernames with spaces (Wordpress)

I have got Drivel working with wordpress (using the moveabletype
interface) and it works perfectly except one minor thing.
Workpress allows usernames with spaces, but drivel keeps giving an error
saving the configuration on every single action.
Is there any way to configure drivel so it allows for invalid chars (in
my case a space) in the username?
