Yes. I recall that Todd spent some time implementing the new
authentication method for LiveJournal. I suspect the old one was
removed, perhaps that code needs to be revived from CVS as a
Livejournal-Legacy protocol module (unfortunately the code predates
Todd's modularisation I suspect).
