Here is a dogtail generated script that should work with gpodder

Make sure you run the script with a user who does not have a pre-existing
.config/gpodder directory, to ensure you get the normal first interaction
experience. If you have channels already defined in the userspace gpodder
configs the interaction will differ from that expected by the script.
