I have no experience with large format printers. Pen plotter for large formats, not printers. I have never sent Dia to a pen plotter.
Here are my thoughts FWIW. Theoretical, based on my experience with letter, legal, A and B sheets.
You can set A0 to be landscape. That is an approximately 112 cm wide x 78 cm tall printed area, if you have 2.84 cm margins top, bottom, left and right. Those margins added to the printed area should equal an A0 sheet. You may change margins in the Page Setup.
Printing thusly, you can tape the sheets together to product what you see inside the page breaks on screen.
In Page Setup you can tweak the margins (not printed and not shown on screen).
You then arrange your Dia so it fits into a printed area with the printed areas as you like them. I zoom out and move the entire Dia until it is in within the Page Break lines as I like it.
The Dia will print onto the A0 paper with the unseen margins added.
This no more or less than the procedure for all the listed sheet formats in Page Setup.
It is up to your printer driver to manage details like file format.
You may be able to export into another format and use some other program to print the resulting file. For example (totally made up) .svg, .png, .dxf, etc., might be printable by Inkscape, GIMP, AutoCAD, or such, on a large roll based plotter.
Good luck!
Mike
