No, I don't have time.  I will keep my fingers at bay while drawing ellipses.

Thanks for confirming.

Do you mind submitting a bug report? Otherwise I'll do it, sign up to bugzilla etc.

Thanks,
Erwin

Yes, I can confirm that.  I am using Win 7 and Dia 0.97.1

I got Dia to exit by picking on the window X in the upper right then tabbing to select the <exit without save> button and hitting enter.  Trying again I got the window to die with picking the X this time. This is not dependable.

I can also delete the ellipse with a ctrl-z combo, but it is still stuck.

The windows 7 task bar will let me close the window.

I tried the T for text keystroke and that also caused the same lockup.

What hangs seems to be the cursor for stretching the ellipse.  Keystrokes still work, the rulers are showing cursor position, but the cursor won't shake loose of the four pointed arrow.

Hi,

I just downloaded and tried to use the Windows version of Dia. Within a few minutes of using it, the Dia GUI became unresponsive/locked up.

It is very easy to reproduce:

1) Select the 'Ellipse' drawing tool (or press the E key)
2) Starting drawing an Ellipse by pressing the Left Mouse button, but don't release the Left Mouse button yet
3) Select the Arc drawing tool by pressing the A key using the keyboard (while keeping the mouse button pressed!)

now the GUI becomes unresponsive and locks up. There seems no interaction possible anymore, except for killing the program using the task manager.

I couldn't find this issue in the bug tracker, is it a known issue?

Secondly, a common convention is to lock an ellipse into a sphere (scale X == scale Y), when holding the SHIFT key while drawing the ellipse. Is this a planned feature, or is there an alternative?
(MS Paint or Google Documents Drawing does this for example. This is how I got into the lockup, I pressed the A key by accident, above the shift key)

Thanks,
Erwin
