There is a way to write a script that uses the XDND or OLE-DND
protocols. Numerous GUI testing appsdo this.

A quick search turned up a TCL/TK module to do this. Doubtless there
are others. Or you could use this module as the base of a utility that
could be invoked from Emacs or other app.
