Re: Edit Text and Tools Question

Hi again. While we're discussing this, it would be really great if there could be a strong visual indication of when you are in Edit Text mode. Maybe something like a different border or background or cursor or something. This might help the user know which keys do what and what times. Thanks. Mark

Hi everyone. I'm working on updating the .97 documentation to include the Edit Text and perhaps some other new features. I have run into a question on the F2 / Edit Text command. Here is the scenario.
1. Add a flow chart shape and enter some text.
2. Click on the canvas to deselect the shape.
3. Click on the shape and press F2 to start Edit Text mode. If you enter text other than N,M,S, T and other letters on the Tools menu, you start entering text in the selected shape. However, if you enter any of the letters for Tools menu commands, you invoke that command.

Is this going to be confusing to users? Is there another way you are supposed to use the Edit Text command? Thanks for your help. Mark

It was definitely my intent when starting text edit mode that one should be able to type freely (including special i18 combos) without hitting menu shortcuts, while at the same time easy shortcuts should be available when not in text edit mode. This is certainly a bug.
