Someone else has to give the real answers.  I just know that there has been a lot of change in this area from version to version.

I have put off going past  v 95-pre7 becasue I didn't like what was done to the hot keys.  But I have some glitches in the version I use; for example, alt-T does not start a text entity as advertised.

My desire is to have the freedom to craft my own hot keys, but this is currently buried out of reach for the non-programmer types like myself.
