That was a strange fix. Can't you pick the right one
in the drop-down
in the export dialog ("Portable Network Graphics
(*.png)" rather than
"Pixbuf[png] (*.png)")?

Yes. I tried both.
"Portable Network Graphics (*.png) produced
Anti-Alias.
The other did not (staircase lines).
This feature is not obvious.
Perhaps the menu item could indicate it:
"Portable Network Graphics [Anti-Alias] (*.png)"?

Or if you're trying to do it from the command
line, use -t png-libart (with -s <width>x<height> to
set number of
pixels)?
I start "dia" with no args.
