Instead, double clicking gives me a dialog for 'open with', where if I 
check the box for 'always open with...', then it from now on uses Dia to

So I guess there's some progress, although I don't understand why Dia 
doesn't associate with .dia when being installed. Maybe I already had some 
crap in my registry?  (Let me know if I should check somewhere)
