Did you remember to use -d on your CVS update?   That could have the
effect you mention.


Hmm, they are mentioned in configure.in:
http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/dia/configure.in?rev=1.281&only_with_tag=HEAD&view=markup
but there's no Makefile.am in tests/:
http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/dia/tests/?only_with_tag=HEAD
