with ctrl-a) will cause the font to switch back.
Any idea what is causing this?
We know that it started after switching to Pango (Gtk2), but apart from
that it's fairly mysterious. I suspect an alpha channel being converted
from 8 bit to 1 bit, but have found nothing to prove it yet.
