Opening old Dia files with v0.89

Hello,

I have downloaded version v0.89. With this version, I can't openold dia
files anymore as well as the samples, it gives the error "Unable to open...,
unknown filetype". New files created via 0.89 can be opened fine. New files
aren't compressed but are in plain XML, old files can be opened when I
decompress them with gunzip, so apperantly gzip compression is not working.
Do I need an extra dll for this, if so, where can I find it, or is it a new
setting in Dia?
