newbie: can't change text field

Hi,
I intalled dia on my Dell PC, with linux Redhat 7.1/Gnome. All seemed
OK.
I created a new UML diagram, a class and changed the default name
When I created the second class I couln't change the default text.
I tried on other types of diagram and got the same problem.
