Renaming a .png into a .gif does not really turn the image into a gif. If
you really want to make a .gif with dia, despite the legal and ethical
problems with that kind of undertaking, export the diagram into a PNG file,
named with a .png extension, and THEN, using ANOTHER PROGRAM (not Windows
Explorer...), convert that PNG file into a GIF (or into a PCX or a TGA, or
whatever).

Please fix your mail user agent, its mishandling of subject lines is
annoying.
