GUI automation framework

Does GNOME have a currently recommended automation framework for tests?
I know dogtail, ldtp, and such were used in past. But I haven’t seen much talk in recent years about this part of the stack nor was I able to find any recent wiki pages about it.
Is dogtail still the state of the art?
