Re: GNOME techonologies used by Mozilla

Hi Pranav,

I'm guessing I'm way too late for this round but if Mozilla will be
doing another round of this in future, I would like to point to a
task:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1063572

Since Geoclue2 relies heavily on Mozilla Location Services on most
computers out there (where they lack a 3G hardware), I think Firefox
relying on Geoclue on Linux machines, would turn this win situation
into a win-win one. :)

Hi GNOME devs,

We are already running short of time on this, so this needs some of your
attention quick. If anyone has any GNOME project in mind that Mozilla
directly or indirectly relies on[0], and which could be completed
(hack/build some new feature or fix something really important) with the
help of Mozilla funds out of its MOSS program (can be in form of hiring
interns or working full time, or anything you could think of), please reply
here. Also mention the funds that you require against your project. Please
describe concrete, specific outputs and outcomes that grant would produce.

Here[1] is the list that Sahil has compiled for GNOME projects on which
Mozilla directly or indirectly relies on, just for your reference. But list
could be incomplete, so don't mind if your project is being used by Mozilla
in some way or other and is not on the list.

You can reply on this thread with your project, or either of us (people in
CC).

At the end of the day, we would compile all the projects and submit the
application for the grant under the GNOME umbrella.

Sahil, Pranav and I met yesterday. The deadline was yesterday for the
first round, but unfortunately we weren't quite able to get our act
together. But our mentor told us with the upcoming holidays it is unlikely
they would look at the applications much this week anyways.

We have the list of GNOME upstream source code around two products - Sea
Monkey and Firefox. So by this Friday we will be putting two applications
for each of those products by Friday. We have a mentor lined up and ready
to help us. So we're in good shape other than the fact that we missed the
deadline.

Pranav and Sahil, do you have anything to add?
