I can easily agree with that reasoning. I have looked at some
(functional) issues Yelp seemed to be facing regarding WebKit, and got
them fixed in WebKit and the webkit branch of Yelp these last days, and
from my point of view things look promising, so further comments/bug
reports are more than welcome there =).

I think it'll not be optimal to depend on two engines, but I guess it's
best to be safe than sorry with core functionality.
