This is true. Pretty much all could be fixed by using these tools (not sure if there is anything to look eg. into glade files). But it does not seem like many maintainers are using them very often. The difference with using a theme is that not only the maintainer sees the issue, but everyone with the theme does. The gtkrc snippet to mark deprecated widgets would look like http://www.gnome.org/~bberg/deprecated-widgets.gtkrc To try it you can appended it to most themes. Benjamin
