Replacement of GnomeThumbnailFactory?

I'm trying to get bug 497264[1] fixed so I can have a fallback thumbnailer for Ogg/Vorbis files. Asking in #gnome-love, andre said that libgnomeui is not really being patched any more and there are plans to stop developing it. If this is indeed the case, is there a planned replacement for GnomeThumbnailFactory I can patch/help port things to instead? I've been running libgnomeui with that patch applied for roughly 9 months, and have encountered no issues with it.
