Note that gnome-volume-manager on Solaris is a bit old. I know the
team at Sun responsible for integrating HAL plans to update to the
latest gnome-volume-manager code when they update to the latest HAL
code. You might want to work with them to find out if the below
issue is caused by the fact that we aren't using the latest and
greatest gnome-volume-manager/HAL code.

gnome-volume-manager disables automount by default. The reason is that
Nautilus handles it, as it said in configure.ac. But after a rough
investigation, nautilus don't handle automount. So I'm a little confused
here.
