We're not "limited" to them in any technical sense, of course, but
there's obviously a danger of text overload if not designed very
carefully.  (And it does means bigger menus, which could impact large
print users quite heavily.)

I certainly wouldn't disagree that a more modern look and feel for all
sorts of things should be high on the agenda for the next major version
of the HIG and/or GNOME, though.
