It would be nice if gnome mandated a standard approach for
normalization. Does everyone like NFC? (http://unicode.org/reports/tr15
for info.)

I suggested NFC for the reasons presented in
http://www.w3.org/TR/charmod-norm/ the most important one being
legacy.
