You shouldn't need to branch just for bug fixing...
Depends on whether the bug fixes require changing strings, modifying
the UI, actually need new features (e.g. focus stealing prevention and
edge resistance in metacity; both looked like new features but were
really just part of bigger bug fixes), or are just considered too big
to go in on the stable branch. :)
