I tried it out once on a Mac and must confess that the Mac layout
inspired me - I initially planned to use a GtkIconView, but it didn't
provide a nice way of including the comments and didn't look mature
enough.
I don't see much of a difference between Apple's CC and my proposal,
except for category icons and a "Show All" page. I think the way I
arranged the items in a category looks better than the Apple icon grid
layout.
Maybe you could explain a bit more clearly what you dislike about this
approach and where you see possible improvements.
