Hello everybody,
I should first start by saying that this is my first post to this
mailing list, and if I happen to be submitting this message to the wrong
crowd, I preemptively apologize.
For the past few weeks, I have been toying around with Gnome's Window
Menu Applet, incrementally adding new features to it and what now; but I
reached some development roadblocks and decided to submit just some
small changes that I have made to it at this time.
This patch instructs the applet to make use of WNCK's "name_changed"
signal when it connects to a window and renames the item in the menu, if
the menu happens to be open. While this patch is more aesthetic than
functional, I thought it would give the applet some needed polish. Under
the following situation one may find this feature useful: suppose one
starts loading a web page and clicks open the menu applet; the applet
will then rename the item in the list to reflect a web page's new title,
once it is loaded.
This patch has been filed at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156439 for anyone who has
interest.
As I said earlier, I have been doing some other work to this applet and
expect to contribute some major enhancements in the near future.
Although this web page and its content are out-dated, one can view some
of the in-progress features at
http://www.nerp.net/~khanreaper/window-menu-patch/. The things noted
here will be submitted when they are "done."
On another note, I should mention that I am just an inexperienced,
self-taught programmer; so if one finds any glaring bugs in this patch,
please tell me.
Best of regards,
Matt T. Proud
