Common language list somewhere in GNOME Platform

Sometimes or even frequently there is need to select a language from the
languages-list. For example, such lists are used in gedit, gdm, abiword
and 
many other text editing application.

There is no problem to copy-paste such list, but think about thousands
of lines, that translators should write to translate about hundreds of
languages.

So the question is - is it possible to add common list to libgnome or
libgnomeui translate it once and use it everywhere.
