Desktop-file-utils is a tool for validating and installing a desktop
file. It's more useful for packagers than for normal developers.

There's not really a replacement to scrollkeeper planned. There was
some discussion on xdg-list about possible replacements, but it didn't
go anywhere. We basically have a set of problems with it, and would
prefer not to see it emphasized until a workable replacement can be
made.
