The numbers you are seeing are, unfortunately, not error codes.
You would need to give exactly the content of the written messages
for a good answer. (And to say what Gnome version you are running:
did you compile it yourself -- if so, where from? -- or is it
the version that comes on Red Hat 9?
If it is your machine and you have access to root and can create
new users, it can also be helpful to try with a new user and
see whether the problem happens there too.
You'll also need to ask on a different list: gnome-list is the
most likely place; or perhaps a Red Hat users list. desktop-devel
is for developing the Gnome desktop, not for running it.
(Follow-ups set. I hope. Unless Mailman overwrites them; if
so, please reply to gnome-list gnome org rather than here.
