For the record, this also affects Yelp. Yelp 2.6 uses GtkItemFactory to
create the menu. That might be the cause. It's either that, or this
line I found hidden in the GTK+ source code:
GtkItemFactory should not affect this, since it just creates the same
widgets you'd get if you constructed the menus manually. The problem
Murray has run into is due to gtkmm using alternative widgets for
everything (so instead of a GtkMenuItem, it uses a gtkmm__GtkMenuItem,
which is a subclass of the first).
I'd guess that the yelp issue has a different cause (although it might
be related).
