Sun Mad Hatter Desktop GNOME theme.

Hello,

Perhaps some of the Sun usability guys could field this question for me.
Looking at the screenshots of the desktop at
http://www.sun.com/2003-0805/feature/index.html, the default desktop
looks pretty ugly.

Is this a good usability? The colors seem to hurt the eyes. Or is this
what a decent, usable desktop should look like?

Just curious since Sun played such a major role in the Hig.
