hmm, sorry, but I can't agree with leaving the network tool aside, if
with "far from usable" you mean that it breaks your configuration, then
redhat-9 support should be removed from the network tool until it's
fixed, or if you mean that it has an unexpected behaviour, then it's a
bug, and those things could be done perfectly in the 2.4 timeframe.

I also think that the network tool (among other good things) fills a
very important gap for modem users (although it's not designed as a PPP
dialer) and this issue should not be simply ignored.

PPD: this reminds me that I should write a complete and up-to-date guide
for testing gst on untested distros...
