Not sure... it depends on which flamewar.
It's a code editor flamewar, it can compete.
But if it's a "which is the simplest and fastest simple text editor ?"
flamewar, I'm not sure Emacs and VI can compete against gedit (not sure
about VI though, as I don't use it).
