I think this is where I got lead astray ... I figured we *did* need to
do this, but couldn't figure out how to do it in a sane way for my
problem.
To make it wholly clear to anyone interested who might have missed this
- "If you wish to migrate settings in a new version to new key names or
locations, that's fine, just make sure you retain the old settings so
that the original version will work. Edits to the new settings do *not*
have to be propogated back to the original settings."
Obviously, though, we should avoid even doing that - but the complexity
of propogating edits back to old settings in some circumstance may just
be too complex to be worth it.
