Yes, I've noticed this. It's on my list of stuff to consider
eventually, as well as making sure that dialogs in the
session manager itself are properly accessible. It wouldn't
do otherwise. It's one of those areas I have to learn more
about, as yet I have no idea what it requires and am just
starting to read the hig.

Uhm, this is not strictly true, is it? I believe that's
exactly what the session manager does and what the sm
protocol is about. But I'm not fully familiar with what's
exposed by for example libgnomeui, and I'm not sure how
gnome-session would handle it, so in that respect you
are probably right.
How to handle non-sm-aware apps is pretty much next item on
the list, after sorting out the dialogs and i11y and i18n
bits I've got so far. It also ressembles the need to handle
system-wide default/fallback sessions for first time users
and users who have messed up the session file.
