I hope that the people involved in gst-player (particularly Julien,
Steve and Christian) can focus on making Totem right for them.

I'm quite a hardarse when it comes to making UI changes, but I think
that there is time and energy to be saved by using the existing
interface for what I hope will become the "desktop" player for GNOME.
