It's definitely wanted IMO, there's no point having a proxy dialog if
it doesn't do what's needed.

It's sort of sad we don't have the equivalent of dhcp or something to
be able to do this automatically in some cases (maybe we do?) but in
the meantime we just have to bite the bullet as far as I can tell...
