transparent terminals in danger!

Hi,

If someone doesn't fix libzvt's transparency support before the UI
freeze on the 13th, I may have to strip this feature out of the 
preferences dialog, because it crashes all the darn time. Fixing this
piece of libzvt is very unlikely to make it to the top of my queue in
the next week, I just don't have time. :-(

If this is your favorite feature, please investigate...
