Ok - so ultimately you can do a lot; but the innards of the way the UI
handler works are hidden - to the extent that you can't replicate what
bonobo_control_popup does, since you can't get at
bonobo_ui_sync_menu_new and friends.
So - the answer ultimately seems to be no; of course you could work
around this by having a rather irrelevant BonoboControl instance kicking
around but ...
It's the price we pay for lots of encapsulation I'm afraid, hopefully
we can relax that as we understand what API we need there in the future.
