Did the accesability maintainers also keep in mind that this 'set panel
to prelight color' seriously breaks the 'set panel color or background'
feature? It seems this is very broken and not realy usable at the
moment, and the highlight / prelight of the panel is one of those
issues. (And if left out a serious 1.x feature regression).

Is there any reason the panel is prelighted when focused, or is it a bug?
It's rather ugly IMHO, and it's buggy.
It's in there for accessibility reasons-- now that the panel is keyboard
navigable, there needs to be a way to show when it was focused, and the
prelight colour was chosen as it was deemed the least garish option that
was still noticeable and consistent with the rest of the theme. So, at
least if you don't like it, there's an easy fix-- choose a theme with a
different prelight colour :)
(For example the menubar's background on
the foobar panel is not updated, and if you move your mouse over the tasklist
applet you leave a trace of non-prelighted buttons in a prelighted panel).
Padraig O'Briain's been working on the whole panel focus/keynav thing...
cc'ing him on this email in case he's not aware of these particular
issues.
Cheeri,
Calum.
