If its still necessary to occasionally do the "rm -rf ~/.gnome ~/.gconf"
thing (which, based on my informal support of a number of people it
still is), I think the CTRL-SHIFT approach is much better than forcing
people to use a terminal in failsafe. We would need to document it and
spread information about it though :-) Even better might be to have a
small "GNOME-fixer" that can be launched from gdm (say, replacing the
"GNOME failsafe" mode; not sure what that does anyway).
