No file type editor

Hi
I have finally compiled gnome2 +nautilus-1.1.6 and associated updates
and gnome-applets-1.94

However the file type editor has dissappeared

When I click on it I get a message saying that the component cannot be
found

Also on occasion panel applets stop functioning and when you click on
them you just get a cross - like the applet has just dissapeared

Any ideas
