i filed a but about this with the gnome1 mixer applet, so i would like
to take a second and vote for a configurable applet.

I'm using a crystal on-board card (cs4232), so this may not be that
common,
but the mixer applet does nothing for me.  in order for me to change the
volume for anything in gnome, i have to change the Pcm device in gmix,
_not_ the volume.
It might be nice to let the user pick which device to be controlled by
the
slider... music junkies could then add six or seven sliders to their
panels, and change all the levels from there.
